Candice is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. 

Prior to becoming a counsellor, Candice worked in a multitude of careers in non-profit, the public school system, and post-secondary. Eventually, the decision to pursue a career in counselling evolved from her curiosity in people and their stories, and her desire to share in one’s vulnerability and healing journey. Since she spent a few years of her childhood in Taiwan and the United States, she is familiar with navigating cross-cultural experiences. Candice is fluent in both English and Mandarin. 

 

Candice views mental health holistically. She believes that individuals inherently want to thrive but struggle due to internal and/or external barriers. She takes on a client-centred and collaborative approach into her counselling work with clients. Candice is committed to creating a space that is authentic, non-judgemental and culturally safe. She believes foundational to the effectiveness of counselling is the therapeutic relationship between her and her clients. She is passionate in fostering curiosity and encouraging clients to redefine their relationship with their perceived problems. Treatment strategies are developed from variety of evidence-based approaches to cater towards one’s needs. These approaches can include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. 

 

Currently, Candice works with children, youth and adults. Some experiences and challenges she has navigated in the past with her clients include: depression, anxiety, career decision-making, stress management, grief and loss, and life transitions. 

 

Candice enjoys food, music, art, and connecting with people. Outside of work, you will find Candice spending quality time with her husband and two young children cooking, eating, biking, swimming, and exploring nature. 

余佳芸 (Candice Yu)是一位卑詩省註冊諮商心理師 (或心理輔導員),擁有不列顛哥倫比亞大學 (University of British Columbia) 的諮商心理學碩士學位。

在成為諮商心理師之前,佳芸在非營利組織、公立學校系統和高等教育領域從事過多種職業。由於她本人對人類經歷的故事充滿好奇心也熱愛幫助人們,最終決定從事心理諮商的行業。她在台灣和美國度過了幾年的童年,使得她有機會體驗和熟悉不同文化間的差異。因為佳芸精通普通話及英語,因此能夠為華人以及當地人提供諮詢服務。

 

佳芸是從整體上來看待心理健康。她認為個人本質上都想要成長,但由於內部和/或外部障礙而陷入掙扎。她了解選擇心理治療是需要很大的勇氣但在這過程中,她會提供一個真誠,安全的空間去鼓勵客戶探索人生的障礙和困擾。治療策略是根據各種基於證據的方法來加以制定的,藉以滿足個人的需求。這些方法包括:認知行為療法 (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)、人際關係療法 (Interpersonal Therapy)以及接納與承諾療法 (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)。

 

目前佳芸服務的對象有兒童 (八歲以上)、青少年和成年人。她的專長包括:情緒的困惑(憂鬱症、焦慮症)、職業決策、壓力管理、喪親之痛以及生活轉變。

 

佳芸平時喜歡享受美食、音樂、藝術以及與人互動。工作之餘,她喜歡與她的丈夫和兩個年幼的孩子一起共同烹飪、享受美食、騎自行車、游泳和探索大自然以度過美好的時光。
